Though Mark Ruffalo recently wrapped his part on Thor: Ragnarok, Tom Hiddleston is still on the set and back in the garb of the God of Mischief. Hiddleston shared an image on his Instagram of him in costume which you can check out below, along with a photo from Marvel Studios co-president Louis D’Esposito with director Taika Waititi.
Thor: Ragnarok will feature the return of Chris Hemsworth as the God of Thunder himself, with Tom Hiddleston as Loki, Mark Ruffalo as the Hulk, Idris Elba as Heimdall and Sir Anthony Hopkins again portraying Odin. Cate Blanchett plays the mysterious and powerful new villain Hela, Jeff Goldblum stars as the eccentric Grandmaster, Tessa Thompson will bring the classic hero Valkyrie to life on the big screen, and Karl Urban will add his might to the fray as Skurge.
Kevin Feige will produce the film, joined by executive producers Louis D’Esposito, Brad Winderbaum, Victoria Alonso, Thomas M. Hammel and Stan Lee. The screenplay hails from Stephany Folsom, Craig Kyle, Eric Pearson and Christopher Yost. Current plans call for the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s “Phase Three” chapter to shoot until October, although production could feasibly continue through the end of the year.
Directed by Taika Waititi, Thor: Ragnarok will smash its way into theaters on November 3, 2017.
Marvel Studios has revealed (via EW) a nice treat for fans making the pilgrimage to San Diego Comic-Con with a convention-exclusive Doctor Strange poster! Created by artist Ryan Meinerding, the Doctor Strange Comic-Con poster features star Benedict Cumberbatch as the Sorcerer Supreme and will be available at the Marvel booth. Check it out below!
Doctor Strange stars Benedict Cumberbatch as the Sorcerer Supreme along with Chiwetel Ejiofor (12 Years a Slave) as Baron Mordo, Benedict Wong as Wong, Tilda Swinton (Only Lovers Left Alive) as The Ancient One and, in undisclosed roles, Rachel McAdams (The Vow), Michael Stuhlbarg (Pawn Sacrifice), Scott Adkins (The Bourne Ultimatum), Amy Landecker (“Transparent”), and Mads Mikkelsen (“Hannibal”).
The film is directed by Scott Derrickson (The Exorcism of Emily Rose, Deliver Us From Evil) from a script by Jon Spaihts (Prometheus, Passengers) and C. Robert Cargill (Sinister). Marvel’s Doctor Strange follows the story of the talented neurosurgeon Doctor Stephen Strange who, after a tragic car accident, must put ego aside and learn the secrets of a hidden world of mysticism and alternate dimensions. Based in New York City’s Greenwich Village, Doctor Strange must act as an intermediary between the real world and what lies beyond, utilizing a vast array of metaphysical abilities and artifacts to protect the Marvel cinematic universe.
Doctor Strange opens in theaters on Friday, November 4, 2016.
From all early accounts thus far, Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman totally stealsBatman v Superman: Dawn of Justice from the two title heroes. I’m seeing a press screening tomorrow and will have a review for you in the next couple of days, but before we get a chance to check out the first live-action film incarnation of the character, HalloweenCostumes.com has created a detailed infographic breaking down the evolution of her costume over the years. We actually featured a different infographic about the same subject last year, but this one is much better. I love the blending of the photo of Gadot with the classic Wonder Woman image.
DC Comics’ upcoming Hanna-Barbera line of comics is one of the boldest decisions Warner Bros has made with those properties in a long time, and DC seem committed to treating the individual series as just as important as its main line of superhero books. With veteran creators like Keith Giffen on the books, DC is throwing its full weight behind the new line, and has unveiled new variant covers for Scooby Apocalypse and Future Quest by superstar artists like Steve Rude, Neal Adams and Bill Sienkiewicz.
Sienkiewicz and Rude’s covers are for the upcoming Future Quest series by Jeff Parker and Evan “Doc” Shaner, which unites all of your favorite sci-fi and fantasy themed Hanna-Barbera characters and seems to be headlined by the characters from Space Ghost and Johnny Quest.
Neal Adams and Howard Porter provide covers for Scooby Apocalypse, which is reportedly based on an original concept by Jim Lee and Keith Giffen, with Giffen and Porter heading up the book. It drops the Mystery, Inc gang in a post-apocalyptic world where nanites have ravaged the population, turning people into mutated monsters.
Also part of DC’s new line of Hanna-Barbara comics are new series’ for Wacky Races, and The Flintstones. The Flintstones seems to be a modern take on the original stone-age family written by Mark Russell, and character designs by Amanda Conner. Wacky Races Land by Ken Pontac and Leonard Manco is a bit more out there, and is set in an assumedly different post-apocalyptic world than the Scooby Doo series, and re-imagines the cartoon with a Mad Max twist, with vehicles designs by Fury Road’s Mark Sexton.
Check out the variant covers below, as well as the standard covers for Future Quest and Scooby Apocaylpse by Doc Shaner and Jim Lee.
